Canberra PR.9 XH136 at Brenzett Aeronautical Museum, 10th September 2022; Richard E Flagg

This particular PR.9 had a fairly undistinguished career, being delivered to the Ministry of Aviation in 1959. She went on to serve with 58 Sqn, 13 Sqn (at Luqua, Malta), and then 39 Sqn. She spent a while with the Aircraft and Armament Experimental Establishment (A&AEE) before going back into service with 1 PRU.

Finally, XH136 was retired to ground instructional use at No.2 School of Technical Training based at RAF Cosford. She was put up for sale in 1991, and at some point in 1993 reduced to a nose section, which spent some time with Phoenix Aviation at Bruntingthorpe before moving on to Spanhoe Lodge in Northamptonshire and finally to Brenzett for display.

The cockpit today is undercover at the Brenzett Aeronautical Museum. XH136 is fairly complete, although does lack an original navigator's ejection seat which can just be seen in the photo above. The photo also shows her lacking a canopy, presumably this is to allow visitors easier access to view the pilot's cockpit.
