Nice to see the old girls again. But being an armourer seemed to be forever removing the ejection seats to retrieve bits and pieces dropped in the cockpit and rolling down to the back of the nav's seat. And harmonising the cannons, fiddly and frustrating, and the pilot when checking always seemed to find them not quite perfect! Remember Javs at 27mu Shawbury in storeage and for major servicing-the fitting of the refueling probe & scrapping.Can also remember the mk7 aircraft being dismantled by 60mu outside F1 hangar & returned
for conversion to mk9.
Always remember the engine ground runs outside no1 hangar,firing the reheat that used to ruin the concrete apron.The the first air test after a major service was always spectacular as the unit test pilot would stage abit of a show - great days. Can remember a jav being over stresse... read more »

Initially Radar fitter on Javs. We had AI 17 on ours, not great. Jav 2 had the more sophisticated American AI21 or 22
