Swift FR.5 WK277 at Newark Air Museum, 23rd June 2019; Jake Wallace

This is WK277, one of the only two Swift FR.5s to have been preserved. WK277 was at one time going to be converted into a jet car to make an attempt on the world land speed record! Out in the open at the Newark Air Museum for many years and looking dented and faded, the former no doubt from her time as an instructional airframe at RAF Cosford, the latter from the long exposure to the elements, thankfully in 2005 she was moved under cover and repainted and looks superb as a result.
However, in 2025, the long-term resident of Newark had planned to move to pastures new, being pulled out of the hangar ready for disassembly - and making for a great photography opportunity too. In mid-April 2025, the aircraft was loaded onto a lorry and made its way to the ever-expanding South Wales Aviation Museum. WK277 currently resides within their restoration hangar awaiting some TLC before reassembly and public display.
