Always loved TSR2 and very bitter about the cancellation. Listning to Dennis Healey deny ordering the scrapping, if he did not then who did.

She who must be obeyed bought me the Airfix 1/48 for Christmas, will be doing it as what if Empire Flying School.

Lesley, I met you and your wife when I visited his nursing home recently with my two small daughters just after your uncle had sadly passed away. Although I didn't know him for very long, I thought he was such a lovely man, a real gentleman and really interesting to talk to. He will be very much missed and only wish he had had more time with us. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me about him and wish both you and your wife very well.

I was a youbng man when Wilson cancelled this plane and although a labour supporter i felt betrayed, the very same thing happened with the plane being built to break the sound barrier scrapped because the government said it would never happen with straight short wings guess what shape the american planes wings were after getting all the flight info from the uk, pollititians have always been short sighted and greedy and il bet a few bank balances got bigger after that decision

I was lucky enough to be taught to fly by one of the three test navigators who was on the TSR2 test programme... many an interesting story was told... what an inspirational guy AND aircraft... no doubt the Tornado would never have existed. I just wish I was old enough to have seen it fly...

I think that an artist's impression of TSR-2 flying up the Thames past the Houses of Parliament adorned the cover of my "Boys World" annual about 1962.
Even that was very impressive. I couldn't agree more that Labour were virtually guilty of treason in cancelling this project at such a late stage. I wonder just how many took significant back-handers for making that happen. It's all too apparent that neither Labour nor politics in general have improved in honesty or any other form over the intervening year... read more »
