Hunter T.7 XL569 at East Midlands Aeropark, 23rd September 2023; Jake Wallace

XL569 is an ex-RAF trainer which first took to the skies on 3rd March 1958. After transferring to several squadrons over its flying career, the airframe was retired and got transferred to the Royal Air Force Technical School at RAF Cosford. Here, the aircraft was maintained in flying condition before then being transferred to RAF Technical School at RAF Scampton and then transferred again to RAF Technical School in RAF Abingdon.

XL569 was then moved to East Midlands Aeropark in Derbyshire, possibly somewhere around the late 1990s. The aircraft was kept in ground running condition until it was moved to the other side of the airport in the early 2000s which is where the Aeropark is today. Due to the site being close to several houses, all ground running was sadly ceased. The airframe has been repainted a handful of times since arriving at the museum, her last repaint only being a couple of years ago.

XL569 can be seen on display today on concrete pads outside, she is relatively complete and appears to be in good condition.
