Hunter F.58 ZZ190 at RAF Fairford, 17th July 2023; Jake Wallace

J-4066 was retired in 1995 to a museum in France. The OFMC found out about it and went to have a look, and liked it so much they got it airworthy again and the late Mark Hanna flew it into Kemble in early 1998. J-4066 spent some time with Delta Jets being restored and in early June of 1999 flew out to join Hawker Hunter Aviation's (HHA) Hunter fleet based at RAF Scampton. One of a pair of airframes that have now lost their civilian identities to become military aircraft once more, operated under COMA (Civil Owned Military Aircraft) regulations. ZZ190 (as she now is) is owned and maintained by HHA but flown by FRA pilots on defence simulation and trial taskings. HHA has been awarded AvP67 status to undertake this kind of work on behalf of the MoD.

Sadly, RAF Scampton closed at the end of 2022, and so as a result, HHA relocated ZZ190 to RAF Leeming earlier in the year, where it continues to fly on a regular basis, often with one or two other Hunters airframes.
