Canberra T.17 WJ633 at City of Norwich Aviation Museum, 3rd December 2022; Jake Wallace

Built in March 1952 as a B.2, WJ633 served with 100 Squadron and 231 OCU. She was converted to a T.17 in 1964 and entered service with 360 Squadron, being used to train surface-based radar and missile operators and airborne fighter controllers in handling jamming (including the use of chaff). In 1987 she was further upgraded to a T.17A with improved nav aids, a spectrum analyser in place of the previously fitted AN/APR-20 radar, and a powerful communications jammer.

Retired in 1997 to storage at RAF St. Athan, she ended up being transported to RAF Wyton and placed on the fire dump. What was left of her was mostly scrapped in 2006, with the nose section being saved and moving to the City of Norwich Aviation Museum in 2007. She has been due a repaint for a while with the RAF Marham paint shop doing the work, but COVID-19, unfortunately, delayed this. However, it seems work has recently commenced, with her current paintwork being rubbed down.
