F.2

  1. A view inside the cockpit of F.2 WF259 at Museum of Flight; my thanks to the staff there for opening up the canopy so I could get a clear shot inside. Colouring generally dirty black as you can see, with well-used surfaces having the paint rubbed off until the metal underneath shows.
  2. WF259 again, looking back at the ejector seat.

FGA.6

  1. First a view of the cockpit canopy, coaming and ejector seat from the starboard side. The flash has turned the sky colouring of the fuselage nearly white.
  2. Same aircraft from the port side. Both these shots of FGA.6 WV856 at the Fleet Air Arm Museum. This second shot was taken with a digital camera which has given a blue cast to the colours.
  3. Now FGA.6 WV797 at the Midland Air Museum. First, looking down into the cockpit from the starboard side...
  4. ...panning left to view the port console...
  5. ...back to see the seat (mostly unequipped on this example) and canopy...
  6. ...round the other side (perched on an F-104 ladder specially dragged over for me by the museum's resident artist and disc-cutter-wielding Cessna driver) looking at the starboard console...
  7. ...and finally panning right to see the canopy again. Note dodgy Vulcan 558 Club bloke lurking on the edge of the picture. If you see this man (who goes by the name of Paul 'Give Me All Your Spares' Hartley), tie down your Vulcan, or he'll nick it! :-)

My thanks to Barry James and the staff at the Midland Air Museum for opening up the Sea Hawk and ladder-dragging-and-steadying services!
