First flown on 2nd April 1965, XR747 retired in 1988 and was sold sadly scrapped in 1992 and the cockpit was sold to the Lightning Preservation Group who moved it to Plymouth. The cockpit was sold again to a private owner who moved it to Treworgans, Cubet in Cornwall in 2004, it has since been moved again to Bideford in Deveon.

For several years, the cockpit could be seen sat in the undergrowth until 2014/2015 when it was moved to a concrete pan for restoration work to start. Restoration work still continues to this day.
