Type 544 WT859 at Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, 18th March 2023; Jake Wallace

This is the last remaining part of any of the Scimitar prototypes - the nose section of WT859.

Having spent many a year on a fire dump, the fuselage was the only surviving part of the aircraft and was in the process of being scrapped at Foulness in 1991. Once it was recognised for what it was, the nose section was thankfully saved, though it was quite damaged. The Brooklands Museum acquired it with the hope to restore it to display condition, but instead just sat untouched for several years, untouched and being battered by the weather. WT859 later moved on to the JAPG at Long Marston for some further neglect and finally ended up at the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, where it, at last, received the attention and restoration it deserved and looks great as a result!
