a memory....4a/c "Mickey Finn" scramble..pulling out the Blue Steel arming pins, running back for cover and experiencing 16 Conways thrusting 4 Victors off the pan & down the runway...earth moving!

My first Victor was in 1959 at Wyton and next 1977 at Marham - 57 Squadron
A thing of beauty ? Only if viewed from a few thousand feet - workwise it was a pain for the Radio trades !

I worked on the Mk1 Victor at RAF Gaydon from late 1960 to mid 1961.
Nice to look at but a rubbish aircraft. Always going wrong. I had to deal with 2 aircraft fires very scary. The worst thing was standing under the engine ports feeling the soloniods to check they were not over heating during every engine start.I remember one day the soloniod jammed on the number 4 engine and caught fire. I told the crew and they were out and gone quicker than the ground crew!

I would be greeat to see both the Victor and Vulcan in formation again. Even better with a fighter escort!

I agree with Pavel they are the most beautiful aircraft from the golden age, I also rate the Valkyrie up there with them
