PORT WING

  1. XN685 at Midland Air Museum (as are all these shots). View from outboard, showing wing-fold detail.
  2. View of the wingfold mechanism from directly ahead, looking aft.

STARBOARD WING

  1. Wing fold from behind. Two small curved panels that cover part of the mechanism when unfolded are just about visible. Fuel dump pipe is very visible!
  2. Wing underside. Red line on aileron seems to be standard; certainly appears on more than one photo of operational Sea Vixens. It can appear faded orange on some machines though. Aileron is held in place with a small red retainer (to the left of the '6'). Serial position and style on both wing and tailboom are evident, as is the overpainted ROYAL NAVY titling.
  3. General view. The black rubber coating on the bottom of the outboard pylon (on folded portion of wing) is visible here.
  4. General view.
  5. View from ahead of the wing.
  6. Wing upper side. Pitot probe and prop positions evident, as is the small fairing between flaps and aileron. The white line again seems to be standard.
