FORWARD AND MID FUSELAGE

  1. WV795 at Bruntingthorpe. A clearer shot of the intake than the one of WM969, but darker unfortunately.
  2. Duxford's FB.5 (WM969) shows off the lines of the camouflage here. Also noteworthy are the intake at the tip of the nose, the lack of a frame along the bottom edge of the front part of the canopy and vanes within the main intakes.
  3. An altogether lower viewpoint on the Fleet Air Arm Museum's FGA.6 (WV856), showing the cannon ports and the two small fins that project downwards.
  4. Back to Duxford for a closer view of the port intake. Not as detailed as the shot of WV795's starboard intake but you can see the vanes inside the intake more easily. These actually curve round; viewed from ahead they curve in towards the centre of the fuselage. The curve is very sharp, looks to be somewhere between 60 and 80 degrees, and starts quite quickly after the leading edge of the vane.
  5. Back to Yeovilton for a view above the intake over the port mid fuselage.
  6. Now the Midland Air Museum's FGA.6 (WV797), with a view across the top of the fuselage, showing the aerial positions well along with the closed engine relief doors.

REAR FUSELAGE AND TAIL

  1. Back to Yeovilton again, a view from behind the starboard jetpipe, again showing the aerial positions.
  2. Up to Scotland for Museum of Flight's F.2 (WF259) to see the tail assembly and arrestor hook. The hook hinges just after the tail bumper. Note the old style serial presentation, the stencilled look - quite strange to see an F.2 in this more recent grey and white scheme with large ROYAL NAVY titling though.
  3. Back down to Yeovilton, compare the serial and titling here...
  4. ..and round the other side.
