Lightning F.53 53-699 at Tabuk, March 2003; Brian Mouat

53-699 was first flown on 23rd December 1968 and delivered to the RSAF at Jeddah in June 1969. Serving with 6, 13 and finally 2 Squadron (coded 227, which she still wears now). She was retired in 1984 and British Aerospace assisted with her erection on this dramatic plinth on a roundabout just outside the King Faisal airbase in Tabuk during 1985. She's presented with a warload of underwing rocket pods and Firestreak missiles.
