- F.3 XR713 'DD' of the Lightning Training Flight (LTF). Tactical dark sea grey / dark green
scheme with natural metal undersides. Compare with her as she is now, at top of page!
- F.6 XS928 'AH' of 5 squadron in the dark sea grey / light aircraft grey scheme with the high demarcation line (contrast
with the version on XR773, below).
| RAF BINBROOK, 22ND AUGUST 1987 |
- F.6 XR773 'BR' of 11 squadron. Dark sea grey and light aircraft grey scheme; low-vis roundels and Firestreaks.
- F.6 XP693 - BAe's bird. Used as a chase plane and radar target for Tornado ADV development; beautiful picture
this, with aircraft reflected in the puddles! Overall silver with full-colour roundels.
- F.3 XP764 'DC' of the LTF was parked next to XP693. Note the small belly tank; an easy way to tell it apart
from the big-bellied F.6. Another one in the dark sea grey and light aircraft grey scheme, but this
time no missiles at all, instead the rounded pylon stubs are fitted.
- A line of Lightnings! This is but one of many sights never to be repeated... :( Lots of different
colour schemes to be seen here.
| DTEO BOSCOMBE DOWN, 14TH JUNE 1992 |
- F.6 XS904 in the tactical dark sea grey and dark green scheme of old (natural metal undersides),
complete with overwing 'Overburger' tanks. Looks like the rudder was replaced at one point!
