Jaguar GR.1 XX966 at Pembrey Ranges, 30th July 2016; Lloyd Green

XX966 was first flown on 19th November 1975 and delivered to the RAF the next month, joining 17 Squadron at RAFG Brüggen, initially coded 966 and later BM. 17 Squadron re-equipped with the Tornado from January 1985, and XX969 was returned to the UK for storage at RAF Shawbury in December 1986.

She was soon transferred to No.1 SoTT at RAF Halton for ground instructional use, then onwards to No.2 SoTT at RAF Cosford. At some point she was repainted in the then-current grey scheme and coded JJ.

From 2006 onwards she was used for spares recovery, resulting in a gutted shell which got transported by road to the Pembrey Ranges in May 2009.

As you can see in the photo above, she has been gradually shot to bits. XX966 still remains at the Pembrey Ranges to this day in a very sad state.
