First flown on 7th May 1974, XX726 joined the OCU at RAF Lossiemouth at the end of that month, and was the first GR.1 to be converted to received the laser nose as opposed to built with it. She moved on to 6 Squadron at RAF Coltishall, and was retired in December 1987, initially to storage at RAF Halton and by 1994 she was on charge at Cosford as a ground instructional airframe.
