E-427 has lost its Danish colours to be represented as a Blue Diamonds Hunter - XF324 (though she recently lost her squadron colours on the nose). In the past she was to be found guarding the gate at Bruntingthorpe (and sometimes accompanied by another temporary guard such as a Provost, Canberra or armoured car), the pilot's name painted under the cockpit is Wing Commander B. A. Heritage - subtle or what?! From 2000 onwards and with the departure of XK149 and XL603, XF324 has spent most of her time on display with the other static aircraft at Bruntingthorpe. Information current as of 04/10/2003.       Among Peter Vallance's collection at Charlwood in Surrey is this ex-Danish F.51. Previously E-430, she was painted up as an RN GA.11 (the guns give it away though!) on arrival in the UK some years ago. Displayed for some time at Thorpe Park, the owners there soon got rid of their aircraft and it moved on via a collector to Peter's collection where it rests to this day. From the looks of the port wing, which is in RAF colours, the aircraft is a composite.

A941; 11,460 bytes

F.51 XG190 at the Midland Air Museum, 11th May 2002; author F.56 A941 at Delhi, 2003; Warbirds of India
E-425 at the Midland Air Museum is an ex-Danish example and had been partially repainted in its original colours. However the Museum has had a change of heart and in late summer 2000 she was repainted in RAF colours, in fact 111 Squadron 'Black Arrows' markings as you can see, representing XG190. Sadly in modern Britain an aircraft in RAF colours draws more visitors than one in her correct Royal Danish Air Force markings.       Previously on show at the IAF Museum in Palam, A941 was the less complete of their two examples and has now been repainted in a silver finish and pole-mounted above a memorial plaque in Subroto Park in Delhi. She is, as you can see, illuminated at night. Information current as of 01/01/2004.

An ex-Thunderbolts display team example is preserved on the gate at Chabua AFS; apparently it was grounded at this station after being overstressed during a display. Information current as of 2003.       On display outside the Nehru Technology Museum is an anonymous Hunter donated by the IAF. Transported here and reassembled by personnel from the Kalaikunda Air Force Station, this Hunter represents its long association with the Kalaikunda Air base.

Faridabad, situated in Haryana state, south of Delhi, is an industrial area. No Air Force institutions or establishments are there, but a lone Hunter adorns the Town Park in the city. Information current as of 1997.       Displayed within Jaisalmer airfield as part of the 'Victory Pillar' memorial, BA237 looks to be in very good condition, with wheels kept off the ground by metal trestle under the fuselage and a support on the nose gear. The aircraft is pictured here very early in the morning before sunrise.

This aircraft was presented to the Modern School by the then-Air Chief S K Mehra in 1991. She's in good condition and is externally complete with ejection seat and assorted intake covers, though unfortunately no tailpipe cover so the students have used her as a litter bin. Three plaques adorn the blocks in front of the aircraft, one about the presentation, one about the role of the maintenance wing who transported the aircraft here and one showing the aircraft's history.       BA263 is preserved at the Indian Air Force Museum, most of the inhabitants of which reside in a hangar on an active IAF station. This makes visiting for foreigners a little more work than it is to visit any of the UK's museums, especially if you want to take photos! Enquiring with the Indian Embassy is a very good idea before travelling.
