Hunter T.7 XL601 at Vissenaken, 23rd September 2006; Laurent Heyligen

XL601 was delivered to the RAF in November 1958 and served with 1(F) and 19(F) Squadrons, 233 OCU, 4 FTS and 237 OCU. In 1985 she moved over to join the Navy and FRADU's fleet at Yeovilton, being finally retired to Culdrose as a ground instructional airframe in 1993.

In 1996 she was put into storage and sold in 1997 to a Belgian owner. Moved to Exeter initially, she went to Belgium in 1999 and a restoration to airworthy condition was begun. She was going to be given a new paint job (4 FTS training colours) before hopefully appearing on the airshow circuit. However, restoration didn't proceed and was placed in storage in Vissenaken for many years. A few years ago, the XL601 was moved to the Brussels Air Museum in Landen due to the storage facility in Vissenaken being full of asbestos. Once she arrived at the museum, she was placed in storage and still remains in storage to this day.

The photo above shows a rather rare photo of XL601 in storage at Vissenaken back in 2006.
