- The ill-fated G-HHUN, ex-XE677. Displayed for some years in this brilliant red colour scheme,
G-HHUN was the only Hunter F.4 in flying condition in the world but was sadly destroyed in an accident at BAe Dunsfold this year, killing the pilot, John Davies.
The aircraft is seen here at Fighter Meet 97 at North Weald, where it displayed with G-VETA...
- ...seen here at the same show. The paint scheme is hardly military, but it looks good!
- Another shot of G-VETA on the ground at its home base of Bournemouth (Hurn)
airport.
- Yes, G-VETA again! This time airborne over the south coast. This and the
previous shot courtesy of Jet Heritage's
John Burtenshaw;
contact him if you wish to use the pictures for anything other than personal
use.
- Cranfield's Classic Jet & Fighter show in 1998 was truly Hunter Heaven, with no less than five
displaying. Here one of the Old Flying Machine Company's ex-Swiss Hunters screams past, one of my
favourite shots this year.
- Farnborough's 50th anniversary saw three Hunters take to the skies individually, and this one, 712 in
Royal Jordanian Air Force colours, put on a respectable performance but couldn't quite compete
with the massed Hunters at Cranfield!
An assortment, mostly of everybody's favourite Swiss display team from Michael Hall,
Garry Lakin and Nick Challoner...
- Dubendorf, 1977 - Michael was lucky enough to be at the base one afternoon, watching practically
the entire Swiss Air Force land one after the other! Note the 'Sabrinas' are small as on RAF Hunters -
only later were they fitted with chaff/flare dispensers and enlarged.
- RAF Greenham Common, IAT 79 - beautiful shot of the whole team lined up on the ground.
- Not all the team aircraft had the Swiss markings on the underside, as shown here.
- RAF Fairford, IAT 1991.
- RAE Boscombe Down, ATI 1992.
- ATI 92 again.
