NOSE

  1. AEW.3 XP226's starboard exhaust. Unfortunately the flash didn't go off but it at least shows the shape clearly and how mucky the area between the exhaust and its shrouding is.
  2. AEW.3 XL503. Getting up to the cockpit is quite a journey!
  3. XP226 showing the various steps used in the aforementioned journey.
  4. Head-on shot of XL503.
  5. XP226 again.
  6. Back to XL503.
  7. General view of the area around the port exhaust...
  8. ...and again, from aft.
  9. ECM.6 XG797, showing the very different cockpit area and some wingfold detail.

PORT FUSELAGE

  1. ECM.6 XG797, showing the differing exhaust position on the AS.x/T.x/COD.4/ECM.6 variants.
  2. Similar view of AEW.3 XP226. The paint is quite faded; the darker area (a walkway) on the inner part of the wing was black when in service.
  3. Similar view of XL503, which doesn't have the walkway painted.
  4. Panning right a bit and looking up...
  5. ...and then ducking down for a look under the fuselage.
  6. Here we've turned right for a look at the tailplane. The wires from the boom on the fuselage and top of the tail are just about visible.
  7. A lower view showing the arrestor hook - hooks varied widely in how they were painted.
  8. Closeup of the lower rear fuselage.

STARBOARD FUSELAGE

  1. Well, just about starboard, by about an inch... :) XP226 viewed from the rear. Note how the hook is painted very differently to XL503's one.
  2. Rear fuselage and tailplane - many squadrons applied colours to the rear portion of the small fins on the tailplane.
  3. XP226 still, further forward.
